June 2006 Hi It's been a couple of months now since my last blog…so what news? As you can see above, we've some more gigs coming up. Again, we'd love to see you there. We played at a party in Devon a couple of weeks ago - which was interesting when the other band's PA speaker started smoking. The BOTB thing has been and gone - and we're all really pleased to be able to get on with getting our full live set sorted. There's some negotiations going on about us playing a festival in France and we'll give you more details as and when. You can see videos of us playing live, just follow the video link to your right of the screen - it takes you out of Culm's official site, but you can see us doing what we do best. Things on Planet Culm just get better. We're writing new material, our live sound is expanding, we picking up new people who seem to like what we play and we're getting busier. The 4 of us are just enjoying writing and playing music - come along to see us play and see what you think… Once again, thanks for supporting Culm. As I said before, we don't always get the opportunity to thank people personally for their support - it's not us being rude (well, Neil maybe) - it's just one of those things but you can rest assured that we really appreciate it.
April 2006 Hi Welcome to our new website. We hope you like the design (and, of course, the music). You can get to this site via either www.culmmusic.co.uk or www.culmmusic.com Make sure you bookmark us. On the site you'll find lots of stuff - photos, news, MP3s, there's even a bulletin board to post comments. We'll be updating the site constantly so make sure you visit it regularly. You'll soon be able to watch video's of Culm doing what they do best - playing live. There'll be merchandise soon to buy as well. Oh, in case you don't know, in Culm there's Alex Carter singing, Rob Swain on guitar, Neil Eckhart playing the bass and Andrew Lee on drums, although just to confuse things, we swap around sometimes. If you're up on Culm news, you'll know that we won the first heat of the Carlton Inn Battle of the Bands competition. It was really good as it was only our 2nd gig in this line-up and it therefore kind of paid off for all that rehearsal time! The review said: "CULM took the stage - a very different band to anything we have seen so far, and swayed the judges in their favour with an interesting blend of the melodic, funky, and at times grandiose - reminiscent of the likes of YES in their heyday perhaps. Old but new, Ancient & modern combined, experienced musicians playing only their 2nd gig in this band. Fresh and interesting." Good eh? We're really busy at the moment, getting our set ready for the quarter final of the Carlton Inn BOTB comp (the date's down below - it'll be good to see you there). We're also preparing some gig dates so you can enjoy the live experience that is Culm; again, check out this site regularly 'cause we're continually adding venues and dates and we may be in town/city near you soon. We're also getting to grips with using our new studio. The aim is to get some new tracks completed (as well as recording some old ones properly) and to get them out as one CD for all you groovy people. Of course, we'll put some MP3's of the new tracks on this site as a sampler. That's it for now. Thanks for supporting Culm. We don't always get the opportunity to thank people personally for their support - it's not us being rude - it's just one of those things but you can rest assured that we really appreciate it. See ya soon.
